  • Identity Verification Information: To verify your identity and protect against fraud, we use a trusted third-party partner, Veriff. You will be asked to provide information directly to Veriff, which may include photos of your government-issued ID and a selfie. Veriff acts as our data processor for this service, and the information you provide to them is subject to their privacy policy.


B. Information We Obtain from Equifax:


With your express consent, which you provide by agreeing to our Terms and Conditions and using our Services, we act as your authorized agent to obtain your credit information from our partner, Equifax Canada Co. ("Equifax"). This includes:

 

  • Your credit score.

  • Your full credit report, which contains details about your credit accounts, payment history, credit inquiries, and public records. 


This information is retrieved from Equifax and displayed to you through our Services. YourScore.ca does not store your full credit report on its systems. The data is maintained by Equifax, which is responsible for its accuracy and completeness. 


C. Information We Collect Automatically (Usage Data):


When you interact with our Website, we may automatically collect technical information, such as:

  • Device and Browser Information: Your IP address, device type, operating system, and browser type.

  • Usage Details: Pages you visit, features you use, and the time and duration of your visits.


This information is collected using cookies and similar technologies and helps us improve our Services, enhance security, and provide a better user experience.

4. How and Why We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for specific, identified purposes:

  • To Provide and Operate the Services: To create and maintain your account, verify your identity, and retrieve and display your Equifax credit score and report. 

  • To Provide Personalized Offers: To present you with tailored offers for financial products and services from our third-party partners that may be of interest to you. 

  • To Communicate with You: To send you service-related notifications, respond to your inquiries, and provide customer support.

  • For Research and Development: To analyze usage trends, improve our Website and Services, and develop new features. Any data used for these purposes is typically aggregated or anonymized. 

  • For Compliance and Protection: To enforce our Terms and Conditions, protect our rights and the safety of our users, and comply with legal obligations.

  • Veriff to perform identity verification services.

  • With Your Express Consent for Partner Offers: When you direct us to, we may share your information with our third-party financial partners to pre-qualify you for offers or to facilitate an application you choose to pursue. You will always be informed before this happens. 10

  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law, such as in response to a court order, subpoena, or a request from a government or law enforcement agency. 12

  • In Case of a Business Transaction: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

Please note: We cannot change the information in your Equifax credit report. If you find an error in your credit report, you must contact Equifax directly to dispute it. 9

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of your information at any time by closing your YourScore.ca account. Please note that withdrawing consent will result in the termination of your access to the Services.

7. Data Security and Retention

  • Security Safeguards: We take the security of your data very seriously. We implement robust technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification. 6 These measures include using 128-bit or higher SSL encryption for data transmission, firewalls, and regular vulnerability assessments. 

  • Data Retention: We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain your account, or as required by applicable laws and regulations. Once it is no longer needed, your information will be securely destroyed or anonymized.

Our Services are based in Canada. However, some of our service providers may be located in other countries, such as the United States. As a result, your personal information may be transferred, stored, or processed outside of Canada.
